Top Navigation Search

  1. Keyword Search
    1. Type in a word or words in the text of the article
  2. Search by Category
    1. Choose a category from the drop-down list
    2. Click on the "Search" button

Advanced Search Page

On the "Search Results" page click the "Search Again" button
  1. Enter Keyword(s)
    1. Match All Words
      More than one word in the same document. For example, when searching for oil AND gas, all documents containing both the words oil and gas will be displayed.
    2. Match Any Words
      Either word in a document. For example, when searching for oil OR gas, all documents containing either oil or gas will be displayed.
    3. Boolean Search
      • When typing in the "and" operator between two words (e.g., "oil AND gas") you are searching for all articles containing both of the words.
      • When typing in an "or" operator between two words (e.g., "oil OR gas") you are searching for articles containing either of the words.
      • When searching for the first term without the second term in a document. For example, oil AND NOT gas, will display all documents with the word oil but not gas.
      • A more complicated search can consist of several terms in the same document, but not others close together. For example, when searching for (oil OR gas) AND NOT (abandon NEAR well), you re searching for documents containing the words oil or gas but not the word abandon near the word well.
      • Use double quotes (") to find exact phrases. For example, "oil and gas" will find documents with the exact phrase, but will not display documents where the phrase is not exactly as typed.
  2. Select a Category
    1. You can limit your search results by selecting just one category
    2. If unsure of the category that applies to your query, choose "All"
  3. Click on the "Search" button

Cookies

A cookie is a small bit of information placed on your computer by a web page. It is used to identify you to the web server. It tells the server who you are when you return to a page at the same website. Your browser will only send a cookie back to the website that originally sent it to you. A cookie cannot run any programs, deliver any viruses, or send back information about your system.

Printing Articles

DOB Magazine provides a "printer version" which allows readers to print individual articles without the navigation for their own personal use.

  1. Go to www.dobmagazine.com
  2. Click on the link to the article you wish to print
  3. Click on the "Printer Version" link
  4. (Internet Explorer or Netscape):
    1. Choose File > Print from the browser's menu bar; or,
    2. Click on the Printer icon in the browser's button bar

Viewing Adobe Acrobat PDF Files

The Acrobat Reader is available free of charge from Adobe at Adobe Acrobat Family.

Viewing PDF files:

When you click on the file name, the Reader will open and allow you to view the file within your web browser.
 

Make DOB Magazine Your Home Page

You can make DOB Magazine your browser's home page!

In Internet Explorer 6:

  1. Go to Tools > Internet Options
  2. In the text field beside "Address:" (Home Page section), type http://www.dobmagazine.com
  3. Click <OK>
  4. Click the "Home" button in the toolbar

In Netscape 8:

  1. Go to Edit > Options
  2. In the left window pane choose "General"
  3. On the right side where it says "Location(s):", type http://www.dobmagazine.nickles.com
  4. Click <OK>
  5. Click the "Home" button in the toolbar

In Firefox 2:

  1. Go to Tools > Options
  2. In the left window pane choose "Main"
  3. On the right side where it says "Home Page:", type http://www.dobmagazine.nickles.com
  4. Click <OK>
  5. Click the "Home" button in the toolbar
